DOES YOUR CHILD HAVE

Are you dealing with any of these challenges?
W

You worry that your kids lack self-esteem or they have a hard time sharing belongings and interacting with others.

W

You’re struggling to find something to do with your kids that appeals to you all as a family.

W

They struggle to maintain control of their movements or mood and may be unintentionally destructive.

PARENTING YOUNG CHILDREN IS A REAL CHALLENGE. LET SYNERGY BE YOUR PARTNER IN PARENTING

We get it – it can be tough. You have to balance their natural curiosity and high energy with trying to teach them the basic skills they need for school and life.

Discipline, confidence, sharing, and self-control are all things they need to learn to be successful but it can be hard to get the right balance of structure and creativity whilst also having them engaged in the activity.

At Synergy we aim to see EVERY child become happier, healthier and more humble. We teach the strong values that you teach at home, in a positive, fun and safe environment. Our martial arts curriculum is packed with life-skills, strong ethics and character development. Qualities such as goal setting, perseverance, self-control and the development of a positive mental attitude.

All the qualities that have a positive effect on the physical and mental health and well-being of your child.

RESULTS AND GROWTH WITH EVERY CLASS!

Our Tots classes are ideal for your little ones. They not only provide an outlet for their energy but, thanks to our progression pathway, also teaches them about teamwork, coordination, discipline and other core values that will go with them far beyond the training hall. Parents get to see and experience how with a little focus and structure Tots martial arts classes teach children to control their movements and behavior whilst learning essential social skills at the same time. All in a fun and welcoming environment.

BUILD COORDINATION, BALANCE AND CONTROL

Young children who learn martial arts learn quickly that each movement is intentional. They learn to control their movements and actions to the best of their ability.

They develop great hand-eye coordination and learn about their body balance. That means they’ll be less likely to be unintentionally destructive.

LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP FOCUS

We all know that sometimes getting young children to pay attention can feel like an impossible task. The structure of our Tots classes shows them the importance of focus and teaches them by having them apply it to easily-achievable tasks.

Our activities are fast paced with plenty of celebration and reward to maintain that focus which they can take and use at home or the classroom when school comes. That’s why kids who study martial arts tend to be good students, too.

LEARN TO DEAL WITH FRUSTRATION

In martial arts students pursue goals and receive new grades through either belts or other awards. Young children can often become frustrated when they either don’t get what they want or are finding difficulty in communicating their message. Studying martial arts helps them learn self-control and the power of perseverance.

The physical activity in our classes helps kids release any stress and frustration by allowing them to burn it off in a safe and constructive way, whilst the mental skills in our classes helps focus the mind.

LEARNING DISCIPLINE, SELF-CONTROL AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT CAN HELP THE WHOLE FAMILY

Sometimes, getting your kids to play together can be a battle. The constant bickering is enough to wear any parent down.

At the same time, you may struggle with discipline and self-control in your life too. Studying the martial arts is great for your body, but it’s also good for your brain. As you attend classes both your child and yourself will learn the five tenets of Synergy Martial Arts: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.

IMPROVE SELF-ESTEEM

Self-esteem plays an important role in how we move through life. A child who has good self-esteem is likely to perform well in a variety of areas including school, friendships, relationships and their eventual chosen career.

Of course, a parent’s self-esteem has a direct impact on their kids which is one of the reasons why we directly involve parents within our Tots classes. Seeing their children’s success and how they have impacted this boosts self-worth. One of the most important benefits of martial arts is that it teaches people of all ages to rely on themselves, their abilities and to be confident that they can achieve their goals in life more readily than what they give themselves credit for.

Once you know your own worth, and your kids know theirs, the whole family will have a newfound positivity that can carry them to even greater successes in all walks of life.

LEARN GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP

Losing is not anybody’s idea of fun, but we all need to learn how to accept a defeat gracefully and move on. Students will face challenges, some will be successful fairly quickly, others may take longer.
We teach our students that failing is actually the opportunity to learn. That the only real failure is when we give up on ourselves. That there is always a way to overcome the challenge and be successful – we just need to keep trying until we find it.

We do this in an environment that is supportive, demonstrates teamwork and where students and parents alike root for one another.

faq’S

My children can become physical when angry - will taking part in martial arts teach my kids that it’s okay to hit people?

No – in fact the opposite. In our classes, we emphasize courtesy and self-control. Our martial arts focus on how to avoid confrontation rather than embracing it. Kids learn that kicking and punching are appropriate in a structured and organised class and we also make sure that they know that physical violence is not the right choice for conflict resolution.

Are family martial arts classes appropriate for those with disabilities?

Yes. Our instructors can modify their instruction for students of every ability level. If you have any specific concerns, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help out.

Isn’t 2 years old too young to start martial arts?

No. Children learn incredibly quickly at this age. Our program is specific to that age so they are learning skills including movement, balance, coordination, listening, verbalisation etc. Which are key aspects for more complex skills later on.

My partner and I are separated, does it matter which one of us brings our little one?

No. We often find that parents who are separated get a real benefit out of the classes as it’s excellent ‘quality time’. Just be involved, bring a positive attitude and you’ll fit right in .

My child gives up easily when frustrated. I want them to learn perseverance. Can your classes help?

Yes. Perseverance is one of our key tenets that forms the bedrock of our martial core. It’s common for students to require more than one attempt to become proficient in a new skill and to progress to the next level. Giving it your best shot is the most important thing – perseverance builds courage, which in turn builds character.

Will martial arts help my child learn to interact with others and share?

Yes. We teach kids to learn in a collaborative environment with an emphasis on sharing, cooperation, and teamwork.

My child has a hard time remaining focused and misses important instructions. Can taking martial arts classes help them do a better job of focusing?

Yes. Part of our training teaches kids to be mindful and to remain focused. They must focus to succeed in class. Once they learn to do this it will benefit them in other aspects of their life.
