If you have ever felt threatened or fearful that you were about to be attacked, you’ll know how terrifying that can be. We want to help you be in a better position both physically and mentally to deal with those kinds of situations. There’s no better feeling than possessing a skill that can protect you, or a loved one from danger.
Taking you step by step we will lead and guide you from performing moves against an imaginary opponent, to pad and target work, to working with a partner and even progressing to direct sparring with others once your skills and confidence are at the required levels. We will teach you techniques that you can use to defend yourself.

LEARNING THE VALUE OF RESPECT, FOR THEMSELVES & OTHERS
Some teens seem to be all about attitude; no respect for others including their peers, elders or those in positions of authority.
At Synergy, respect and courtesy are core components of what we do – they are in our oath and tenets. Every student must respect their instructor and seniors. This is drilled at every class so that it becomes part of who we are.
This includes self-respect which builds upon the notion of an improved self-esteem – helping students become happier, healthier and more humble.
JUDGMENT IS AN ESSENTIAL SKILL IN MARTIAL ARTS
Whether in our classes or in competition, the difference between a great performance and a poor one often comes down to one or two errors in judgment.
Students learn how to calculate the ‘risk versus reward’ and to make their best judgments rapidly. They also learn from poor decisions and how to face new challenges in a positive manner.
HOW TO SET AND ACHIEVE GOALS
Teens sometimes seem not to care about goals setting, whether this is short, mid or long-term.
Synergy martial arts lends itself easily to goal setting throughout the established curriculum and belt syllabus. Each skill they learn, and each belt they earn, represents a goal that they have achieved and is therefore worthy of celebration.
Goal-setting provides students with the tools they need to set achievable goals in all walks of life including at school, home and in their future careers.
Kids with motor difficulties learn coordination and build essential core strength at a level that suits their individual needs and capabilities.
Through martial arts kids get to understand their bodies; how they move, how they react to challenges along with their mental and physical capabilities in a safe, welcoming and encouraging environment.

When a child has specific needs, they can be challenged with certain things that other kids might find easy. At Synergy, they learn in a structured environment that emphasizes self-respect.
All children need exercise but sometimes it can be hard for some kids to keep up on the playing field.
Martial arts instruction focuses on competing with yourself and your own goals within an inclusive environment – something that allows kids with specific needs to excel on their own terms.
Through our martial arts program kids find out quickly that each movement must be deliberate. Students learn to control their movements, developing balance, coordination and control to the best of their ability.
As they develop their coordination skills and learn about their bodies abilities they’ll be less likely to be unintentionally destructive
We get it – it can be tough. You have to balance their natural curiosity and high energy with trying to teach them the basic skills they need for school and life.
Discipline, confidence, sharing, and self-control are all things they need to learn to be successful but it can be hard to get the right balance of structure and creativity whilst also having them engaged in the activity.

Our Tots classes are ideal for your little ones. They not only provide an outlet for their energy but, thanks to our progression pathway, also teaches them about teamwork, coordination, discipline and other core values that will go with them far beyond the training hall. Parents get to see and experience how with a little focus and structure Tots martial arts classes teach children to control their movements and behavior whilst learning essential social skills at the same time. All in a fun and welcoming environment.
Young children who learn martial arts learn quickly that each movement is intentional. They learn to control their movements and actions to the best of their ability.
They develop great hand-eye coordination and learn about their body balance. That means they’ll be less likely to be unintentionally destructive.
